Technical Specialist: Reality Capture

An exciting career opportunity for a Technical Specialist to support the delivery and commercial growth of advanced reality capture solutions across the geospatial, AEC and Facilities Management sectors.

Working closely with the sales team, you’ll help clients understand how to capture, process, and leverage reality data to improve project and asset management workflows.

This is a client-facing, mid-level role suited to someone with practical experience in 3D laser scanning and point cloud processing. You will combine strong technical capability with commercial awareness — supporting solution design, client demonstrations, and successful implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Delivery & Support

  • Lead the delivery and support of 3D laser scanning and reality capture solutions.
  • Process, register, analyse, and manage point cloud datasets.
  • Provide technical guidance on scanning methodologies and data capture strategies.
  • Support scan-to-BIM and digital integration workflows.
  • Assist with implementation, onboarding, and post-sale technical support.

Commercial & Client Engagement

  • Support the sales team in client meetings as the technical subject matter expert.
  • Deliver technical sales demonstrations and workflow presentations when required.
  • Assist in scoping solutions and defining technical requirements.
  • Contribute to proposals and solution documentation.
  • Build strong client relationships and position yourself as a trusted technology advisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

  • A relevant tertiary or technical qualification is highly advantageous.
  • 3–6 years’ experience in reality capture within the facilities management, engineering, construction or surveying industries.
  • Practical hands-on experience in 3D laser scanning.
  • Scan-to-BIM workflows and BIM platforms experience.
  • Working knowledge of Trimble RealWorks (highly advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of NavVis Ivion (highly advantageous).
  • Working knowledge of SLAM scanning.
  • Experience in registering and managing large point cloud datasets.
  • Understanding of digital workflows across design, construction, or asset operations.
  • Confidence engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in supporting business growth.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
  • Willing and able to travel nationally, as well as internationally occasionally.

Highly advantageous:

  • Experience with Trimble scanning hardware and field operations.
  • Experience with NavVis scanning hardware and software solutions.
  • Experience with SLAM scanning solutions such as XGRIDS or similar.
  • Familiarity with Common Data Environments (CDEs), for example Trimble Connect or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Experience delivering technical training or workshops.
  • Existing relationships within the local AEC or FM sector.
